Would you love to have more than just a holiday? Be more than just a tourist and experience the Zanzibari lifestyle? Mangrove Lodge proudly hosts volunteers for projects including:

Hospitality at the lodge – Do you have experience in hospitality or have completed studies in this field? We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills who would like to assist our team in the running of the lodge. Duties include but are not limited to: overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of guest rooms, greeting and assisting guests, supporting wait staff, social media and marketing. Also creative people, artists, photographers only to mention some are all welcome. 

Teachers and physiotherapists – We are looking for qualified teachers to join our school, to teach our children using the International curriculum and share your knowledge and experience with local teachers. Our aim is to give our children a more modern education than which is available in Zanzibar. Not only this, but also to develop our local teachers, to open their minds to alternative teaching methods.

Waste Management, compositing and Garden – Waste management is poor in our community and we are seeking volunteers to help combat this issue. With limited resources and a community mostly unaware of the dangers of dirty environment we are seeking creative-minded people to assist in the development of a waste management project.

Share & Stay

Do you have a skill or knowledge you can share with us? We invite you to come to Mangrove Lodge and donate your time and exchange these in return for your room at a reduced rate or free.

We are always looking to grow and love the opportunity to give back to the community in which we reside. Perhaps you can teach our cooks a new dish, pass on some bartending skills, provide english tuition for our staff and children, photograph the lodge for conceptual design, run a music workshop, teach the local children about protecting the marine life or help to build playground for the school.
