Project Description

Turtle aquarium in Nungwi and Kendwa Beach

Nungwi and Kendwa are situated at the northern tip of the island and are popular beaches and offer numerous touristic activities.

In Nungwi visit The Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond, an NGO that protects the endangered sea turtles from being hunted or eaten. The aquarium itself is a natural formation carved out of coral bedrock by the erosion of waves crashing against the shore.

Or if you have been wondering how the impressive dhows have been made, stop by the Nungwi Boat Yard and discover how they are built. From the sourcing of the wood to the joints they use, how they make them and how the boat sails.

One of the most beautiful beaches on Zanzibar is Kendwa, where tides don’t affect swimming. You can spend a fun-filled day of water sports or perhaps snorkeling in Tumbatu Island, but don’t miss the sunset. You will be glad you stayed.
