Welcome to Mangrove Lodge, Zanzibar

Set amongst tall palms and mangoes trees, the Mangrove Lodge is a relaxed hideaway built and run by a Zanzibari-Italian family It’s situated only 15 km north of Stone Town on the west coast of Zanzibar, neighbouring the spice plantations.

Stroll through the nourishing jungle-like garden’s paths and find 10 comfortable thatched Bungalows and the colourful Bar & Restaurant on our charming mangrove’s bay. The combination of local recipes, indian spices, fresh seafood and a variety of delicious fish makes the Dining experience special.

At the Sultan’s Palace ruins garden, the Lodge offers a magical atmosphere with a big sea view Pool and loungers on the white sandy beach. Its calm and warm sea is ideal for swimming, till a breathtaking sunset reflects on the Indian Ocean.

The Mangrove Lodge is an eco-friendly local business committed to being environmentally and socially conscious and aim to positively impact the nearby Chuini with local workforce and crafters.

Awaken your senses as you walk through the spice gardens with your knowledgeable guide, Mr. Spice Abeid and discover how herbs, spices and fruits are cultivated, smell and taste tropical flavours!

Village tour with Haji, the Mangrove Lodge’s owner. Explore the natural environment and inland villages to get an up close and personal view of the Zanzibari lifestyle. 

Follow the century trodden paths of traders as you pass through narrow lanes, local artisans and handicraft shops of a lively UNESCO World Heritage town, pearl of Swahili traditions, where different cultures entwine harmoniously. 

Enjoy a sundowner overlooking the sea and stroll around Forodhani Gardens which become alive at sunset as the food market stalls line their catch on the grill.

Perfect destinations for swimming in the blue Indian Ocean, off shore Stone Town. Have our captain come and collect you from the Mangrove beach for an easy day exploring the turquoise universe that surrounds the islands.

Take a trip to Prison Island, once a place for prisoners and the ills. Head to the inhabited Bawe Island for snorkelling and the sandbar to sunbathe.
